I have an interesting anecdote about Chinese football. I was teaching English at a Chinese university last year where me and some foreign students (all African) played a friendly game against a group of Chinese students that were training that day. They played alright, they could run, they could pass, they knew how to play, but the big difference was in positioning/movement and physicality. They didn't move effectively in attack and defence and they really didn't put their bodies into defence or attacks, it's not that they were weak, they just didn't use their bodies well. We absolutely destroyed them, it must have been something like 20-0 before we stopped. I was so surprised later when one of the foreign students said those guys were there studying football, none of us were sports majors, just regular guys. Well, a few weeks later we had another game, this time, we were the ones who got outplayed, losing 2-1. This group of Chinese students weren't even sports majors, just regular students. The difference? All of these guys were from Xinjiang.

I think a lot of American and maybe Mexican fans love the idea of a combined CONCACAF/CONMEBOL but logistically it would be very difficult to manage. I can't imagine Vancouver Whitecaps taking a 30 hour round trip to Buenos Aires for a midweek Copa Libertadores game, then having an 8 hour round-trip for a MLS matchup on the following weekend. Poor Vancouver already travel around 50,000 km during the regular MLS season. But maybe the subject of a CONMEBOLNACACAF would be an idea for a future video as the USA, Canada and Mexico get sick of playing each other.

Being Mexican and a football fan brings me so many mixed feelings. Knowing how much talent there is in such a big country, but knowing we’ll never take advantage of it is fucking depressing. It’s all because of the greed that goes into negotiating low quality foreign players. Too much corruption and greed has doomed our national team. We currently have the worst national team of recent history and it shows.

I think calling it Super Copa America or Copa America Global could be a nice new tournament created by Concacaf and Conmebol and would not affect the current Copa America. But I think it's time that they should just create a new tournament with a new Trophy. This way the new tournament can be more meaningful to win as the winner is the True Copa America's champion from all of a America. Yeah it's sound silly but hey it's a start 😂

See what you're trying to say but to understand the "why" u need to understand the US as some of your points are misdirected. The US hosting Copa America isn't a real issue in of itself because of the huge population of immigrants from each country in the US and it also gives the Copa and extra marketing boost to make more money than they would in south america as more American companies would and are paying higher advertising rates. This is not just about football as u know, but also about money. The format is fine and is not as elitist as the euros. I actually think they should integrate north america/ concacaf while still having invitees to the tournament.
